Drainage Projects

Hughes Road Drainage Project

The city of Dickinson received a grant for $49.7 million to improve drainage in the Hughes Rd area. This will allow for greater detention of water, but also will aid in moving water further downstream on the bayou and ultimately to the gulf.

Moores Addition Siphon:

The goal of the “Moors Addition Drainage Improvements Project” is to reduce the risks associated with extreme storm events in City of Dickinson near Benson Bayou. This project reduces localized and regional flooding by increasing the conveyance capacity in the existing roadway drainage system and by adding regional detention pond in Benson Bayou. The proposed storm sewer trunkline will increase the conveyance capacity to bring the rainfall runoff from the neighborhood to Benson Bayou and reduce the flooding risk in the residential areas. The proposed detention pond is needed to mitigate the impact of proposed storm sewer trunkline as well as reduce flooding from Benson Bayou by lowering the WSE during 100-Yr storm event in Benson Bayou.

The construction and ROW acquisition cost is $12.9 million.
